Taken on the Larvotto beach of Monte Carlo, Vulgarian Spies return speaks to the masking of our true selves to adapt societal norms. Using iconic imagery from old-school cinema to inject some humour into a darker theme, Daniel explores the parallels between being a spy in a foreign country and trying to navigate your own space in this world when you don’t feel confident in yourself. Through the almost collage-like composition, Daniel evokes a sense of unease and vulnerability, a sense that the structures do not entirely belong in their surroundings.
